- With ever changing food hygiene regulations the importance of keeping bacterial levels to a minimum is paramount. The use of disposable paper in wiping waste and mopping up spills is an excellent way of ensuring bacteria are not transferred via a reusable cloth to different areas in the kitchen. Products are available in blue for use in food preparation to be clearly seen if accidentally dropped and can also be used to differentiate between back and front of house. Wipers are available in a choice of base sheets and plies with a variety of absorbency rates for different tasks.

Mini systems can be used where space is limited and usage levels are lower but standard systems are often preferred for maximum capacity and cost effectiveness.

Hand washing is a vital part of any infection control policy

Effective hand hygiene can be one of the simplest yet most effective methods of reducing the incidence of Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI). It is estimated that HAI costs the UK in excess of £1billion a year, kills 5000 patients and consumes the resources of 27 hundred bed hospitals.

The DHS epic Project, in its guidelines for preventing HAI recommends for hand hygiene:

Hands must be decontaminated immediately before each and every episode of direct patient contact.
Hands that are visibly soiled or potentially grossly contaminated with soiling must be washed with liquid soap and water.
Apply an alchohol-based hand rub or wash hands with liquid soap and water to decontaminate hands bteween caring for different patients or between different caring activities for the same patient.
A proper hand washing technique must be used.
Alchohol handrubs must be applied thoroughly to all parts of the hand.
Apply an emollient hand cream regularly to protect skin from the drying effects of regular decontamination.
